Mansfield has spent the last seven years at Colgate leading efforts in residential life and leadership development, most recently serving as assistant dean of students and director of Greek life, a position he has held since 2006.

"Tim is well known and highly regarded by Colgate students, parents and alumni as a passionate Colgate person who is committed to finding creative ways to build community and engage people around common goals," said Loveless. "He is going to be a tremendous asset as we expand our efforts to build meaningful connections between our alumni and the university."

"This is an exciting time to be a part of Colgate's university relations team," said Mansfield. "Colgate has made alumni engagement a priority and I look forward being a part of that effort. I am very proud to serve Colgate through this new opportunity."

As director, Mansfield will lead the university's efforts to build and maintain strong relationships between the university and its 30,000 alumni by leading a comprehensive and diverse program that engages alumni across generations, locations and interests.

Mansfield will work closely with Colgate alumni and on-campus staff to direct the university's nationally-recognized program, including reunion, alumni travel offerings, club activities across the nation and abroad, and programs to support career networking such as the annual Real World program for graduating seniors.

"Tim will have an immediate impact in this position thanks to the skills he will bring to the job and his many positive experiences interacting with Colgate alumni," said Ron Joyce '73, president of Colgate's Alumni Council. "He is a great communicator and an excellent catalyst for connecting people. These are traits that are especially valued by the Alumni Council."

In his position as assistant dean, Mansfield has been a valuable resource to the university's fraternity and sorority system and, over the past two years, has established a strong foundation for future successes. Dean of Students Scott Brown will work with Rick McClendon, assistant director of residential education and Greek house Initiatives, to support and advise students belonging to Greek organizations.

A national search for a new Greek life advisor will be launched with the goal of having a new person on board in the spring of 2009.

Mansfield earned his bachelor's degree from LeMoyne College and his master's in education from Providence College.
