I am elated that Sweet Honey was featured in the King Day celebration. Their music embodies the "new world vision" which Dr. King envisioned and gave his life to attain. As a child of the " Civil Rights " movement I recall the power of music for instilling the confidence in us to walk into the face of life-threatening danger confident we would come out on the other side triumphantly. There remains an immense need for that same type of courage as we deal with today's societal challenges; war, poverty, continuing racism, etc. I carry Sweet Honey's music with me for inspiration as I join others in the daily fight to win the war against the AIDS pandemic in Sub-Saharan Africa.
