In 1979 I moved from Rochester, NY, to accept a position at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. I was raised in upstate NY, graduated from Colgate in 1968 and went to med school at The University of Rochester. I married a woman from New Iberia, LA. Despite job offers from other medical schools before and after coming to UMMC I chose to live in Jackson. I am glad and certain I made the right decision. I have participated in the growth of a vibrant and innovative medical center that serves all of Mississippi.

I believe I might be able to provide some insight to the members of the deep south study group of the great strides regarding the social, economic and political changes I have witnessed over the last three decades. I hope they will contact me before arriving in Miss.

Thanks............Stanley w. Chapman,M.D.
