Alumna to perform complex role in 'Frida' opera

Manzielloweb.jpgGina Manziello '02 (right), who studied theater, voice, and psychology at Colgate before earning a master's in acting at USC, is starring this weekend in Frida, an opera about the life of the iconic Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.

The production at the Carrier Theater in Syracuse, N.Y., opens the 38th season of the Society for New Music.

Knecht went to the Amazon website, which was the first Internet site he had ever visited, on the only computer in the Journal newsroom that allowed access to the web.

Science campEven though school is out for the summer, inquisitive high school students from upstate New York and New York City are keeping their minds sharp at a unique camp on Colgate's campus.

Colgate's Science and Sports Camp was featured this week on the front page of the Observer-Dispatch (Utica).

Colgate, five colleges to explore cost-saving steps

Colgate University has joined forces with five other upstate liberal arts colleges to explore potential cost-saving measures and to share best practices in areas such as student life and staff development.

Besides Colgate, the New York Six consortium consists of Hamilton College, Clinton; St. Lawrence University, Canton; Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Geneva; Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs; and Union College, Schenectady.
