Saperstein renovation more than a sum of its parts

Now, thanks to generous contributions from Mike Saperstein '62 and Charles Axelrod '63, Colgate's Michael Saperstein Jewish Center has two brand new hearts: two spacious kitchens where meat and dairy foods can be prepared separately, so traditional kosher meals can be shared.

Colgate celebrates 60 years of Jewish Life

L'dor Vador, from generation to generation. That was the message in New York City on November 6, 2008, when nearly 200 alumni, parents, and friends gathered to celebrate the vibrancy and importance of Jewish studies and Jewish life at Colgate. With Jewish studies faculty on hand, along with some of Colgate's most outstanding Jewish students and young alumni, the feeling of pride was palpable. Students gather to watch, discuss election results

video icon Students, staff, and faculty members packed into Donovan's Pub Tuesday night to watch election results and many returned, a bit bleary-eyed from staying up so late, this morning to attend a forum sponsored by the Department of Political Science.

Even though the presidential campaign lasted nearly two years, the final few hours of Election Night were electric for those at the pub watching to see which way the key swing states would actually swing.

So he has helped organize events that bring students together to watch the presidential and vice presidential debates and share discussion afterward.

On April 8, while the rest of America was flipping channels in search of the latest 2008 presidential campaign news, a capacity crowd of more than 200 alumni and friends gathered at the Paley Center for Media in New York City to gain election insights first-hand from a panel of Colgate's modern political experts.

Colgate 13 establishes Griffith memorial fund

The Colgate 13 has been singing the praises of Dean William Griffith '33 for decades. With his passing on November 19 at the age of 95, Colgate 13 alumni -- or "Crusties," as they are called -- wanted to do more. They decided to express their love for "Griff" and his mentorship with an endowed memorial scholarship that could benefit future members of the a cappella group.
