Students pull all-nighter to raise funds for hospital

video iconAbout 700 students on Tuesday wrote letters seeking donations from family and friends as part of the Up 'Til Dawn event, a nationwide student-run fundraising campaign for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Student bands, a cappella groups, and an improv comedy group provided entertainment throughout the night in the Ho Science Center.

Alumnus completes solo rowing trip across Atlantic

The 25-year-old alumnus completed his solo rowing trip across the Atlantic Ocean on Sunday afternoon after nearly 3,000 miles of rowing.

Ridley's record-setting trip, which raised funds for cancer research, was highlighted today in a CNN.com story, which for a time was among the top ten most viewed news stories of the day on the popular website.

Team hopes pink turns to green for cancer society

Pink is the new maroon this weekend at Starr Rink.

The women's hockey team will be playing in specially designed pink jerseys during its 7 p.m. Friday game against St. Lawrence and then again at 4 p.m. Saturday against Clarkson.

Raiders fans can show their support for the team and for the fight against cancer by buying the game-worn jerseys through an online auction. Pink ties and scarves worn by team coaches also will be available for purchase, with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society

Alumna gives science students a peek at possibilities

Like a true biophysicist, Krissy Williams '06, a graduate student at the University of Rochester, is thinking big, while focusing on the very small.

Williams presented a lecture about her research to students and faculty members, some of whom were once professors of hers, on Tuesday in Lathrop Hall.
