2 future Raiders selected in NHL Entry Draft

Future Colgate hockey players Jeremy Price (Milton, Ont.) and Thomas Larkin (London, England) were both selected in the NHL Entry Draft this past weekend in Montreal. Price was selected 113th overall while Larkin was the 137th pick.

Student-athlete Mark Anderson wins 1819 Award

andersonstory.jpgWhen Mark Anderson '09 wasn't passing the puck or delivering a hit along the boards in Starr Rink he was pursuing a neuroscience major and conducting complex research in Olin Hall.

The Hastings, Neb., native excelled in both settings, and his passion, dedication, and work ethic was recognized by the university on Sunday when he was named the 1819 Award winner.

Senior savors first experience in NHL game

"It was the best experience of my life."

That was the simple text message that Jesse Winchester '08 had sent to the Colgate athletics department after his NHL debut on Saturday night.

Winchester, a dominant force for the Raiders hockey team the past four years, jumped directly to the NHL after being signed by the Ottawa Senators three days after the Raiders season ended.

Two big games, two big wins, one big day for Colgate

Campus was buzzing today about the blizzard that hit Sunday.

No, not the lake-effect-snow kind of blizzard, but rather the hundreds of students and fans who donned white T-shirts to watch the men's basketball team beat Bucknell to advance to the Patriot League championship game.

More than 1,300 fans jammed Cotterell Court to watch the Raiders beat the Bison, 54-40. Colgate now plays American University at 4:45 p.m. Friday in a game to be televised on ESPN2.

The winner gets to go to the NCAA Tournament.

Raider Nation urged to help student-athlete win award

Raider Nation, it's time to step up and be counted. Again and again and again.

Fans of Colgate hockey are urged to vote for star goaltender Mark Dekanich, who is one of 10 finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award for men's hockey.

The award recognizes achievement in the areas of character, classroom, community, and competition, and is the highest honor given by the NCAA to a senior student-athlete.

Team hopes pink turns to green for cancer society

Pink is the new maroon this weekend at Starr Rink.

The women's hockey team will be playing in specially designed pink jerseys during its 7 p.m. Friday game against St. Lawrence and then again at 4 p.m. Saturday against Clarkson.

Raiders fans can show their support for the team and for the fight against cancer by buying the game-worn jerseys through an online auction. Pink ties and scarves worn by team coaches also will be available for purchase, with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society
