Ajay Chahar '12 now has company online.
The first-year student has been keeping everyone updated about campus happenings through Twitter, a micro-blogging service.
Chahar will still use that platform for now, but his brief posts and those of other Colgate students and staff members also will be presented on a Twitter-like blog called ''gatetwitter.

Student group shares Ramadan with area children
Members of the Muslim Student Association shared activities and chatted with area children about the holy month of Ramadan at an event at the Colgate Bookstore.
"We wanted to reach out to the Hamilton community and show the kids what Ramadan is about," said Rifat Zaman '10, co-president of the association.

Service-learning program benefits students, nonprofits
The Upstate Institute Student Philanthropy Council (SPC) at Colgate University has awarded three nonprofit organizations in central New York grants totaling $10,000.
The SPC is a service-learning program composed of twelve Colgate sophomores.
This year's grant money will support initiatives that enhance the personal and life skills development for underserved populations in the community.

Students use Case-Geyer to produce Gate Update show
Once a week, a first-floor room in the Case Library and Geyer Center for Information Technology is transformed into a TV newsroom bristling with students working with the latest video technology.
The seven students are writing, taping, and editing Gate Update, a show highlighting campus events. The group's first show was posted on www.colgate.edu this week.
