Andrews and Hascall Halls Electrical Shutdown June 29 & 30, 2017

By Contributing Writer on June 22, 2017

As part of the New Residence Halls building project, we are relocating the electrical switch-gear that supplies power to Andrews Hall and Hascall Hall.

This work has been scheduled with the Village of Hamilton to occur next Thursday and Friday (6/29/17 and 6/30/17).

All power to these buildings will be shut off from 8:00 a.m. on June 29 until 5:00 p.m. on June 30 to complete the work. This will also affect HVAC and fire alarm systems.

Any perishable items in those buildings should also be removed from refrigerators and freezers, and please power off all sensitive computer equipment.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this electrical shutdown and look forward to any questions or concerns regarding the upcoming work. We hope the advance notification will allow sufficient planning to work around the scheduled shutdown.

O’Connor and Ho Science Center Air Conditioning Repairs June 23

By Contributing Writer on June 22, 2017

On Friday, June 23, 2017 from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., the air conditioning system to O’Connor and Ho Science Center will be limited. During this time frame, the outside air temperature is predicted to be in the High 60s to low 70s, and the reduced capacity should not cause any discomfort to the areas. The reason for the limited capacity is to make emergent repairs to the New Residence Hall’s chilled water supply piping.

If you have any questions, please contact Facilities Department at 315-228-7130.

Respectfully,
Howard Lewis

Alumni Hall closures July 7–10 and 14–17

By Contributing Writer on June 16, 2017

Please note that Alumni Hall will be closed twice in July, as part of the first-floor entrances and corridor flooring replacement project taking place from July 7 to August 4, 2017.

The building closures will occur over two consecutive weekends, in order to minimize disruptions to occupants and to comply with egress code requirements. There will be limited access to the project area during the week between those weekends.

Alumni Hall Closure Schedule

Friday, July 7 at 4:00 p.m. through Monday, July 10 at 6:00 a.m.

The entire building must be vacated — NO building access during this time, for asbestos abatement at the entrances.

Monday, July 10 at 6:00 a.m. through Friday, July 14 at 4:00 p.m.

Asbestos abatement work will continue in the elevated first-floor corridor. During this time, the building will remain open except for the abatement areas, first-floor classrooms, and office #112, which will be closed; however, the Longyear offices next to the new handicapped ramp entrance will remain accessible.

Friday, July 14 at 4:00 p.m. through Monday, July 17 at 6:00 a.m.

The entire building must be vacated — NO building access during this time, during treatment of the concrete stairs on the north and south ends.

Your cooperation and understanding during this building enhancement project is very much appreciated.
