I graduate Colgate in 1961. There were six African Americans (men only) in my class which was the most diverse class in the history of the school. There were 12 African Americans in the school at the time, two Africans, and several Asian Americans, but not all that many. I just want to add this note to make us smile about how far we’ve come, congratulate Colgate for the diversity work it has done since 1961, and to extend best wishes to Dr. Grenell.

- George Davis

Dr. Grenell,

You are a blessing to all you meet because you have high standards and the leadership that brings out the best others to grow into those standards. You are a man of your word, a gracious gentleman, a voracious learner, and a connector among peoples. Blessings to you, your family, and the very fortunate people at Colgate. My colleagues and I shall miss you very much.

Congratulations to Dr. Grenell AND to Colgate University!

As former president of the Ethnic Alumni Association of Marquette University, I had the honor & privilege of working with Dr. Grenell. He was consistent in his support of not only minority students, but increasing the educational opportunities for all. I wish him much success!

- Valerie Wilson Reed

Tremendous choice, by an institution that is committed to practicing what it preaches.

I have never met Dr. Grenell, but I have talked to him over the phone at length. I was impressed with his dedication and moral commitment to diversity and the college community.

Three cheers for Colgate and its administration for choosing "a bright star" among educators.

JIM Chones, (two of my sons graduated from Colgate this past Spring - Thanks for the great opportunity of education and the development of life skills that you gave my boys. Thanks also to Coach Davis, for his commitment to my kids and their educational/basketball pursuits.

Love you guys!!!!

- Jim Chones
