By mark hine on April 25, 2013

Google recently published an update which affects the way users compose new messages in Gmail. The new compose method provides enhanced functionality, but may confuse some users. Full documentation is available at: http://learn.googleapps.com/new-gmail-compose. Click on the ‘What’s Different?’ tab to view a visual of the major changes.

The position of menus, icons and the compose window itself has changed. The look and feel of the compose window has changed. Additional functionality, including the ability to have more than one compose window open simultaneously, has been added. New keyboard shortcuts have been added. The new compose method is not available for users of Internet Explorer 8.

This change affects all users of Gmail, Colgate’s email solution.

You may temporarily revert to the old compose method.  Google has indicated that the old method will eventually be phased out.  Visit http://learn.googleapps.com/new-gmail-compose to learn more.
