Water Pledges in the Coop

A few weeks ago, sustainability interns interacted with the student body by holding a pledge campaign in the Coop. With a dry-erase board and colorful markers, we attracted students to our table and asked them to write a water-related pledge — something they wished to change about their water use habits. Following their pledge to take shorter showers or wash their clothes in cold water, we snapped a picture of the student with their pledge. Look around campus for a poster displaying the 100 pledges!

In addition, we held a sale for subsidized Colgate Nalgene water bottles purchased from the bookstore. For only $5, students, staff, and faculty could purchase a water bottle to help reduce their reliance on plastic bottles. Each year, the Coop C-Store sells over 5,000 disposable plastic bottles! With the investment in reusable bottles, and the water pledge activity, we hope to change the water use habits on campus for the better, one student at a time.

If you are interested in purchasing a water bottle, stop by the ENST Resource Room at Ho 245.
