Acting workshop: Improvising with Steen Haaken Hansen

By University Theater on October 15, 2015

Join Christian A. Johnson Artist-in-Residence in Theater, Steen Haaken Hansen for a workshop on improvisational acting.

A life dedicated to practice and teaching theater, Steen constantly seeks inspiration in many art forms, cultures and disciplines and has developed new exercises and tasks that make improvisation and corporeal expressiveness relevant to the unique persona of each actor. His workshop will be an introduction to the world of improvised acting, drawing on Keith Jonhstone’s work and his own. It will focus on games and techniques that inspire actors to let truthful scenes emerge on stage.

Improvising for Steen is very much about framing the work in a way that allows the performer’s acting skills to merge with their creative talent, and the willingness to inspire their partner in order to release their partner’s imagination.
