Hamilton Central School and the Upstate Institute will sponsor a series of discussions on rural education and community responsibility with Patrick Carr, Associate Professor of Sociology at Rutgers University, on Thursday, September 22nd and Friday, September 23rd.
Professor Carr is the author of “Hollowing Out the Middle: The Rural Brain Drain and What it Means for America.” This book examines why educated young people are leaving small towns across the nation, and discusses strategies for arresting the process and creating sustainable, thriving communities.
Professor Carr will present a community program on September 22nd at 7:00 pm at Hamilton Central School. This event is open to the community. He will also lead a community workshop on Friday, September 23rd at 8:00 am at the Palace Theater in Hamilton.
