Colgate achieves sustainability recognition

By Sheila Reagan on July 17, 2012

Recently Colgate has been making huge strides in the field of sustainability. Patagonia Sur recently received the highest global accreditation for carbon offsets possible using the Verified Carbon Standard.. Patagonia Sur is a for-profit carbon off-set company run by Colgate alum Warren Adams and is also the company we have decided to purchase our offsets from in order for us to achieve carbon neutrality by 2019. Patagonia Sur is working to reforest lands in Patagonia Chile with native species in hopes to restore indigenous biodiversity. For more check out this article.

Colgate’s campus has also made headlines lately. We were recently dubbed number 36 on the Sierra Club’s list of Cool Schools. We placed above many of our peer institutions including Middlebury! This is quite an accomplishment given it was our first year submitting our information. For the full list of schools click here.
