Green Raiders Football Tailgate

By Sustainability Office on September 6, 2013

Tomorrow, Saturday September 7th, is the first home football game! We know that Colgate students, alumnae, and families like to socialize and tailgate before the game. What better opportunity for us to educate fans about recycling in Hamilton?! Traditionally Colgate supplies solely trash cans for sporting events. Although trash cans are better than littering, much of the waste produced at sporting events can be recycled.

The Green Raiders will be passing out clear recycling bags for all cups, cans and plastic bottles at the game on Saturday as well as the games to follow this season. Although there will be 33 recycling bins and trashcans around the field and tailgate, we want to make recycling as painless as possible, and will be coming around to retrieve your recycling bags at the end of the game. So, when you come to support the team, make sure to grab a bag, fill it up, and we will collect the bags and weigh them at the end of the game. We can’t wait to find out how much waste Colgate can keep out of the landfill by recycling at the first Football game!

Go Green and Go ‘Gate!
