Study of perceptions on use of high-volume hydraulic fracturing available

The Upstate Institute and Madison County Citizens for Safe Energy have released the results of a survey conducted in two Madison County towns this spring to assess self-perceived knowledge and opinions regarding the use of high-volume hydraulic fracturing (also referred to as “hydrofracking”) in natural gas development. The survey asked respondents to rate how well informed they were about various topics related to high-volume hydraulic fracturing, and to rate their level of trust concerning high-volume hydraulic fracturing in various groups and organizations. The results of this study will be used as a baseline to understand residents’ knowledge and concerns so that Citizens for Safe Energy, and others, can tailor future programming to focus on salient issues regarding natural gas development and the use of high-volume hydraulic fracturing.
