Judith Wellman held the Burke Chair in 2011-2012. Wellman is Professor Emerita at State University of New York at Oswego and Principal Investigator at Historical New York Research Associates. She has more than 30 years of experience in research, teaching, cultural resource surveys, and grants administration in U.S. history, women’s history, local history, Underground Railroad history, and historic preservation. She is also the author of The Road to Seneca Falls: Elizabeth Cady Stanton and the First Woman’s Rights Convention, published in 2004.

Nicole Simpson named Burke Chair

Nicole Simpson, Associate Professor of Economics

Nicole Simpson, Associate Professor of Economics, has been named the first Gretchen Hoadley Burke, ’81 Endowed Chair in Regional Studies. Simpson will serve in the position from January 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012. The chair supports scholarly research that contributes to knowledge to benefit the Upstate region and communities.
