World Elephant Day has been created to bring the world together to help elephants. It is a day to honor elephants, to spread awareness about the critical threats they are facing, and to support positive solutions that will help ensure their survival.
We’re calling on animal lovers around the world to rally support for some real-life Ranger Dogs in Kenya that help protect elephants from ivory poachers.
Beginning on August 12 you’ll be able to turn your own pet into an Honorary Ranger Dog at this page, Nature.org/RangerDogs. It’ll be simple: Upload a photo, dress up your dog with ranger-themed “stickers,” click submit, and then share your canine hero in social media.
Your Honorary Ranger Dog will help create buzz to attract people to an online fundraiser where a donor can get “treats” for helping us provide three Ranger Dogs with their most essential needs for a full year, including food, medical care, security gear and basic expenses for human rangers that care for them.
