Seuss Saturday 2015

Dr Seuss Do you like green eggs & ham? Want to meet the Lorax? If you said yes – or you’re a fan of Dr. Seuss – you’re invited to ‘Seuss Saturday’ in Hamilton on Saturday, February 28th.

There will be a variety of activities for all ages at different times & locations throughout the village. Come to just one, or come to them all! Admission to the day’s programs and activities is free (unless indicated with a ‘$’).  


Schedule of events:

9:45am: Proclamation in the Park. Hamilton Mayor Margaret Miller will kick off the celebrations by making a public announcement. [Village Green, Broad Street]

10am to 11am. — Meet the Lorax at the Colgate Bookstore, and make Seuss related crafts. Don’t forget your cameras! All Dr. Seuss books and toys will be 30% off for the entire day. [3 Utica Street, 3rd Floor Events Room]

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Seuss Snow Sculpture. People of all ages invited to make a Seuss-inspired snow creation, weather permitting. [Village Green, Broad Street]

11 a.m. to 12 p.m. — Seussville Computer Lab at the Hamilton Public Library, plus story time with special guest readers at the Hamilton Public Library. Explore wacky and wild online games and activities inspired by Dr. Seuss stories. Heather Elia and Diana Cassulis will read aloud from lesser-known Seuss books. [13 Broad Street]

12:30 p.m. to  2 p.m.Lorax— “The Lorax” at the Hamilton Movie Theater. Come to a free show of the 2012 animated movie based on the Seuss classic. Arrive early for a pre-movie activity. Don’t forget to order some Hop on Pop popcorn. ($) [7 Lebanon Street]

1 to 2 p.m. – Drop-in craft time at the Hamilton Center for the Arts. Stop by anytime to make a creative contraption! [19 Lebanon Street]

2:30 to 3 p.m. – Live-action storytelling of “The Lorax” at the Hamilton Center for the Arts. Local children in costume will act out the story as it is told aloud. [19 Lebanon Street]

 

February 28 through March 14 – “Thing-A-Ma-Jig” exhibit – peek in the windows and check out the display of fun-tastical structures created by community members of all ages. [Large windows at 20 Utica Street. Window shopping only. No inside access.]

Eateries offering food specials ($) will include One Fish, Two Fish Sundaes at Maxwell’s Chocolates, Green Eggs & Ham at the Colgate Inn, Roast Beast Sandwiches at No. 10 Tavern and a special at Oliveri’s Pizzeria. Look for the red & white Seuss hat in the window.
