Where’s Waldo?

By Lauren Marshall on June 24, 2016

box_WaldoWhere’s Waldo? In Hamilton, NY of course.  The famous children’s book character in the striped shirt and black-rimmed specs is visiting twenty-two different local businesses throughout our community this July.

Those who spot him can win prizes, including buttons, book coupons and more. From the Colgate Bookstore at 3 Utica Street to the Hamilton Public Library at 13 Broad Street, from Parry’s at 100 Utica Street to Oliveri’s Pizzeria at 14 Lebonan Street, Waldo figures will be well hidden in local business establishments.

Find Waldo Local is a great summer vacation activity, and a wonderful way for residents to support local business and the Shop Local movement.

Anyone who wishes to participate can pick up a “Find Waldo Local in Hamilton!” passport with the names of all the participating sites, and get their passport stamped or signed for each Waldo they spot. Waldo seekers who get their passports stamped or signed at ten or more sites can bring their passports back to the Colgate Bookstore and collect prizes. Collecting store stamps or signatures at fifteen or more businesses will entitle diligent seekers entry into a grand prize drawing on July 28, from 4-5pm, with the top prize being a 6-volume deluxe set of Waldo books.

This year, participants can also #ColorWaldoAndWin: when they share a completed coloring sheet of Waldo on Instagram, they’ll be entered into a drawing to be one of five lucky winners of a deluxe prize pack.

On July 28th, from 4pm-5pm, come celebrate at the Colgate Bookstore with a pizza party, and one last scavenger hunt!
