Today we embarked on an expedition from Sogndal to Bergen, where we went out of our way to see more of the extraordinary Norwegian landscapes.  Overall, our entire trip consisted of a bus, a boat, another bus, two different trains, and a short walk to our hostel in Bergen.

The boat ride and the scenic train were the two most noteworthy parts of the trip.  The boat went from the village of Kaupanger to Gudvangen and was specifically for tourists like us who want to see the magnificent fjords.

A few hours later, we boarded the Flåmsbana, an hour-long scenic train from Flåm to Myrdal.  This railway is a huge tourist attraction because it takes you up through high peaks where you can see beautiful waterfalls, rivers, and rock formations!  At a platform called Kjosfossen, we had the opportunity to get off the train and to get a closer look at an enormous waterfall.  While there, we were surprised by a graceful river creature at the top of the waterfall that tried to lure us into the water by serenading us.  This act was put on because of the old Norwegian legends from the region.  The whole train ride was gorgeous and all of us were very appreciative that we got to experience so much idyllic Norwegian scenery!
